Top-quality, high-performance elastomers and gaskets for plate heat exchangers
MCD develops and manufactures top-quality, high-performance elastomer gaskets. We supply a full range of elastomers able to withstand a number of chemical or heat environments for all kinds of gaskets and every brand of plate heat exchanger, as well as for specific small objects.
With 40 years' experience in the formulation and production of elastomer gaskets for plate heat exchangers, we can help and advise you in selecting elastomers or elastomer mixes for your applications and constraints.
Elastomers and plate heat exchanger gaskets complying with food industry standards:
Several of the elastomers we develop and the gaskets we make are suitable for food contact in compliance with current standards and laws:
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the US agency responsible for controlling and supervising food and drug safety. FDA standards are often seen as models for international norms. In their Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), the FDA lists materials and chemical products authorized for food contact. CFR 21.177.2600, describes the rules for "Rubber articles intended for repeated use".
European standard EC 1935/2004>
EU standard EC1935/2004 concerns the inertness of materials or articles intended to come into contact directly or indirectly with food.
As there is currently no harmonized list of approved ingredients in Europe, MCD, like most plate heat exchanger gasket manufacturers, has selected the FDA standard to supplement EC1935/2004.
Please note that MCD also complies with EU standard 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. (from the American food and dairy industry) establishes specifications and best practices for the design, production, installation and use of hygiene equipment. Standard 3-A 18-03, concerning "Multiple-Use Rubber and Rubber-Like Materials Used as Product Contact Surfaces in Dairy Equipment " specifies food safety requirements that may also be applied to cleaning and disinfection.
MCD also complies with the following standards:
- Standard XP ENV 1186, parts 1, 2 and 3, concerning materials and articles in contact with foodstuffs and test methodology for overall migration.
- French law on food-grade rubbers—Decree dated 9 November 1994
- EU REACH directive
MCD can also provide ANIA (French national food industry association) food safety certificates for the following materials:
- High temperature NBR (NHT)
- EFD, EST standard
- FKM type A (FVA )
